Vitamin D and healthy bones – what next?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”4267″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d”][vc_column_text]On Tuesday 1st November, Dr Kate Ward was an invited speaker at the All Parties Parliamentary Osteoporosis Group meeting, on behalf of the National Osteoporosis Society.  The meeting was convened by Gordon Marsden MP and The Baroness Cumberledge, to drive for a Call to Action on the implementation of the recently released Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition guidelines for Vitamin D.  Kate spoke about food- and supplement- based strategies for implementation of the guidelines to achieve healthy vitamin D status in the UK population. Other speakers were Prof Neil Gittoes (Chair of the NOS Medical Advisory Board), Prof Roger Francis (member of SACN and NOS Vitamin D Group), Dr Paul Arundel (NOS Vitamin D working Group and British Paediatric and Adolescent Bone Group) and Louis Levy (Public Health England).  The meeting was well attended by stakeholders and is the launch of a drive by the NOS and APPOG to see action on implementation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
