Dr Elena Zaballa BSc, MSc, PhD
I studied a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at the University of the Basque Country (Spain). I was granted a scholarship from the National Institute of Workplace Safety and Hygiene (INSHT) in Spain. Later, I went on to complete a Master’s degree in Occupational Health at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain) and I became a member of the Center for Research in Occupational Health (Barcelona, Spain).
In 2016, I joined the Centre for Work and Health to do a PhD looking at how physically demanding occupations and leisure activities engaged in post hip/knee replacement may affect different outcomes (revision, function, and job retention) in the mid-term. Currently, I am working as a research fellow, after being awarded my PhD in 2020. My interests relate to osteoarthritis in relation to work and mid to long-term outcomes after arthroplasty amongst working age people.”
