Dr Gareth Jones

Gareth Jones BSc (hons) MSc. Econ. PhD    

Gareth gained his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Manchester, while working in what was then the Arthritis Research Campaign Epidemiology University (now the Arthritis Research UK Centre for Excellence in Epidemiology). Following this, he was appointed as a Lecturer in Rheumatic Disease Epidemiology in the same unit and worked on a number of studies examining the aetiology and outcome of musculoskeletal pain disorders. He moved to Aberdeen in 2005 to take up the position of Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology. He is currently Reader of Epidemiology, and Deputy Head of the Epidemiology Group, where his main research interests are in the epidemiology and management of rheumatic and musculoskeletal disease – particularly spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and (chronic) musculoskeletal pain.
