Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Health
Dr Elaine Wainwright is a Lecturer in MSK Health at the University of Aberdeen. She also holds an Honorary Research Fellowship at the Centre for Pain Research, University of Bath. Centre for Pain Research (CPR) (bath.ac.uk).
Elaine is a Chartered Psychologist who studies connections between work, health and wellbeing, particularly for people living with persistent pain. Elaine is particularly interested in the impact of pain on different kinds of occupation across the lifespan. She uses a range of theoretical perspectives in her work including person-fit environment, perceived stress and burnout, and illness narratives. Within the Centre, Elaine is working on a systematic review of prognostic factors and models for predicting work absence in adults with musculoskeletal conditions consulting a healthcare practitioner, led by Keele partners. Elaine is also leading a study investigating the views of patients about how we can deliver health and work support for all.
